NSS Special Camp

A combined NSS special camp was organized by IndSearch (Indian Institute of Cost and Management Studies & Research), Pune and Rashtrapita Mahatma Gandhi College, Khed, Ahmednagar in Shimpora village, Taluka Karjat, District Ahmednagar.

Dates of the camp       : 17th January 2020 to 23rd January 2020

The motto of the camp: ‘Saksham Yuva Saksham Bharat- Ek Bharat Sreshtha


The Camp, attended by 31 students of IndSearch BMS was conducted in the following order:

Friday 17th Jan 2020:

Travel from Pune to Khed, followed by the Inauguration ceremony that was attended by Dr. Aparna Tembulkar-Director, Dr. Ashok Joshi, Dr. Sunita Joshi, Dr. Praveen Saptarshi and Prof. Manjari Lal- IndSearch NSS Coordinator.

The Chief Guest for the event was Mrs. Ashwini Kangude, President-Panchayat Samiti, Karjat. Others present were Mr. Nivrutti Kangude- Sarpanch, Shimpora, Prof. ShahuRao Pawar-RMG College NSS Coordinator, Prof. Manisha Lagad- RMG College Asst NSS Coordinator, Mr. Santosh Shetty-IndSearch staff, faculty members of RMG College and other guests and seniors from Ahmednagar, Khed and Shimpora.

The inauguration ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp, followed by felicitation of the guests present and then the speech by the dignitaries.

Saturday 18th Jan 2020:  

The IndSearch BMS students and RMG College students were divided into four groups (a mix of students from both the colleges), with each group having a leader. The groups were made with the intension of ease in assignment of tasks for each of the days.

The activities for the day comprised of helping in making breakfast, lunch, tea. Cleaning the village was the main activity for the day, followed by a guest lecture post lunch on ‘personality development and hypnotism’, which was enjoyed a lot by the students.

Sunday 19th Jan 2020:

The main student activity for the day was tree-plantation, which began which each group being assigned areas where they had to dig holes for the saplings. The post lunch activity was an entertainment programme by the students where the IndSearch students actively participated and performed to entertain the villagers.

Monday 20th Jan 2020:

The activity for the day was continuation of the tree plantation activity, followed by a guest lecture on ‘Financial literacy’ by Prof. Sudhakar Kulkarni.

Tuesday 21st Jan 2020:

The students helped the villagers by doing a ‘road repair’ activity. The approach road the village had a problem and the students realised that on their way to the village. It was an initiative of the IndSearch students, so as to make travel for the villagers more convenient. The afternoon session comprised of ‘Personality Development and Attitude’ by Mr. Rajendra Bahalkar which had a lot of activities for the participants.

Wednesday 22nd Jan 2020:

The day was full of new findings for the students as they interacted with the villagers to find out the problem areas in the village. The afternoon session was conducted by Dy. S.P. of Karjat Mr. Sanjay Saatav, who spoke about the competitive exams and opportunities for the youth today.

The day ended with a surprise visit by Prof. Bharati Danavi - NSS auditor of Ahmednagar District.

Thursday 23rd Jan 2020:

The camp ended on a very happy note with the valedictory function that was attended by all the senior members of the village including the Sarpanch (head of the village. From IndSearch, the faculty present for the valedictory function were Prof. Amey Tawde, Prof. Nilaya Murthy. Dr. Praveen Saptarshi also graced the occasion with his presence. The camp ended with the return journey to Pune in the evening.
