Srujananubhav - an alliance with creativity
IndSearch had organised the second “Srujananubhav – an alliance with creativity” , a musical programme by Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar under its drive to promote creativity in students, on 13th September, 2011, at its auditorium at Bavdhan. Dr. Raghunath Shevgaonkar , Vice Chancellor , University of Pune, was the chief guest at this programme. Panditji started the programme, at about 6.45 pm, with the raga yaman and enthralled the audience non- stop for two hours , till about 8.45 pm., rendering compositions in five ragas and concluding this musical treat by singing one devotional song from his new album “SwarSanjivani”. The audience consisting of Mrs. Shevgaonkar, members of Board of Studies, Academic Council and the Governing Body, faculty members with their family, students and well wishers of IndSearch, enjoyed the musical treat with rapt attention. The function ended with dinner to all who attended the function.

Felicitation of Principals of various colleges on Teachers Day
5th of September was a special occasion at IndSearch. In recognition of the Leadership and initiatives shown by Principals of Colleges in Pune in the field of Quality in Education and NACC Accreditation, a felicitation ceremony was organized at the Institute’s Bavdhan Premises. In his opening remarks, Dr. Ashok Joshi elaborated on the role of Autonomy and the efforts necessary to enhance quality in Education through various means. He emphasized the need to address this in order to ensure that the institutions provide the requisite talent to industry. The Principals felicitated included the following:  Prof. Chandrakant Rawal of B.M.C.C.,  Prof. Mrs. Shobha Ingavale of Shahu Colllege,  Prof. Ravindra Pardeshi of Fergusson College,  Prof. Hrishikesh Soman of Symbiosis, and Prof. M.S.Umrani of Abasaheb Garware College.

While sharing their thoughts on the theme, Dr. Rawal emphasized on the need to imbibe quality as a part of the academics. Dr. Shobha Ingavale urged the students to look beyond the prescribed books and the teaching and benefit from the excellent infrastructure, the library and other facilities that were being provided by IndSearch. Dr. Ravindra Pardeshi, shared his experiences on the pursuit of Autonomy and the efforts needed to keep up the legacy inherited by him. Dr. Hrishikesh Soman, spoke on the need to consider academics and teaching as a serious option of gainful employment and the contribution of academics. Dr. M.S.Umrani provided the students with an insight into his personal experience of overcoming all odds he had faced to succeed in his pursuit to be an Academician. The event brought to the forefront the efforts being taken by the college heads, the benefits of Autonomy and the struggle to maintain it and the students were exposed to a subject concerning quality in academics.

Extra-Curricular Activities at IndSearch – In search of a perfect trekking destination – KorigadIt was on 18th of August 2011 that those with an adventurous bent of mind moved out of their coziness. The trekking group of IndSearchIANS trekked the favorite destination Korigad. Numbering 42 the students got a first glimpse of the torrential rains just as they entered Lonavala. The scenic beauty, the misty weather and the lashing rain, all made up for what urbanites long for in a break.

Visit of Dr. Milind Sathye, Professor at Canberra University
Dr. Milind Sathye, Professor at Canberra University visited the IndSearch Bavdhan campus on 27th July 2011 where he addressed the faculty and students. In his interaction with the faculty members he encouraged them to make contribution in the area of Research by having publications in various journals which will contribute in improving the Performance Index of the faculties.He concluded by offering his willingness for collaboration in all spheres of academics between IndSearch and University of Canberra.

Dr. Milind Sathye also addressed the second year students of MBA-Information Technology, Human Resource Management and Marketing Management. He spoke about opportunities for students in Australia and of the positive aspects of Indians like having good command over English and being law-abiding citizens. He emphasized that students should have qualities such as commitment, sincerity and punctuality. He concluded the session citing an example of Confucius that a person is the creator of his own destiny.

Guest Lecture on "Leadership" -by Air Marshall Bushan Gokhale
IndSearch endeavors to inculcate leadership traits in its students by various means. One of these is by organizing guest lectures by eminent personalities. On 27th August 2011, the students were addressed by Air Marshall B.N. Gokhale, PVSM, AVSM, VM, former Vice Chief of Air Staff.

Challenges in Leadership was the topic chosen by Air Marshall Gokhale. In his address lasting for about an hour and half he punctuated his session with lessons from the services. The Kargil war, the preparedness of the Army, Navy or Air Force and the will to lead in spite of severe handicaps by the service personnel in their will to serve the nation was aptly captured by him. Quoting our former President, Abdul Kalam he said the responsibility to take the nation forward was with the youth. The session was followed by an interactive question and answers round.

FINANCE FOR NON FINANCE PROFESSIONALS
A program on the subject of ‘Finance for Non Finance Professionals’ was organized by IndSearch at its Law College Road Campus on Saturday , 27th and Sunday 28th August 2011, for professionals working in various departments in their organizations. The main objective of the program was to familiarize the participants about the basics of Financial Accounting , Cost Accounting and Financial Management. The following topics were covered in the program

  1. Basics of Financial Accounting
  2. Understanding Financial Statements
  3. Analysis and Interpretation of Financial Statements through Ratio Analysis, Funds Flow and Cash Flow Statements.
  4. Working Capital Management
  5. Capital Expenditure Budgeting
  6. Basics of Cost and Management Accounting.

The program was attended by 15 participants from various corporate organizations in and around Pune. The following faculty members provided the guidance to the participants.

The participation certificates were given by Dr Ashok Joshi, Director of the Institute.

Police Training - July,2011
On the request from Dr. Mrs. Meeran Chaddha Borwankar, Commissioner of Police, Pune, IndSearch conducted two training programs for Pune Police on the topic of ‘How to conduct meeting effectively?’, on 15th and 16th July 2011, at the Garware College Auditorium and at the auditorium of Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune,  respectively. The program on 15th July was conducted for Officers and Employees from Zone 1 and Zone 2 of the Pune Police, while the program on 16th July was conducted for Officers and Employees from Zone 3 and Zone 4. The programs were attended by over 150 persons on each day. Dr. Mrs. Meeran Chaddha Borwankar and her colleagues attended the programs. The programs were conducted by Dr. N.M.Vechalekar, Prof. Shyam Wagh, Prof [Captain] R.R. Ranadive and Prof. Rohan Sachdev, all from IndSearch.
